Room description
One bed is available in a shared room at 33 La Trobe Street, right in the middle of the Melbourne CBD. Available now.
To be clear up front, this is one bed in a bedroom that has two single beds, so you would be sharing the room with one other guy. Not the whole apartment.
The room is fully furnished. Single bed, built in wardrobe with mirror doors and hanging space, drawers, bedside drawers and a heater. There is no desk in the bedroom, but there is a big dining table in the apartment you can study at. You can move in with just your bags.
Rent is $232.50 a week and the bond is $750. No agency fees.
Bills are small. Gas is free. Electricity is already paid up to mid October and my share for that whole period was about $50. Water works out around $20 a month each. Internet is not included. Everyone shops and cooks for themselves, so there is no shared food bill.
The apartment is a 3 bedroom with 6 people and two bathrooms, so three people per bathroom. There is a kitchen with a dishwasher, a laundry with a washer and dryer, and a balcony with city views.
The building has a lift, a swimming pool, a gym and electronic security.
Location is the best part. A tram stop sits directly in front of the building and the whole area is inside the free tram zone. Carlton Gardens is across the road, IMAX is about 500m away, and RMIT is roughly a 10 minute walk. Shops and groceries are close. There is no car park, but you really do not need a car living here.
Five of us live here. Most are engineering students at RMIT and one works full time. Everyone does their own thing but the house is friendly, not silent. We just want someone tidy who helps out with the cleaning.
Open to anyone, students or working. Pets are fine. Smoking outside only. No minimum stay, if you need to leave later you just find someone to take over, same as I am doing now.
The kitchen, living room, bathroom and balcony photos are from the agent's listing, taken when the apartment was empty. The bedroom photos are current.
